America Misunderstood

So is Osama Bin laden correct?  Is modern American culture a worldwide destroyer of morals? Is Islam threatened by the West’s culture of sex, violence, pop culture? Are they correct in thinking that America is vulgar, trivial and disgusting?     



The One Percenter

I have been reading a book called “Citizen Marketers” by Ben McConnell and Jackie Huba. It is a book about how normal citizens just like you are using the power of social media to exercise enormous influence on culture and what we buy. This book is analyzing people who use social media.


Where There Is Faith

I was listening to a song on the way into work this morning. It was called “Where There is Faith” by 4HIM, a Christian music group. It is a great song. The song was speaking to me. It has been one of those years, a life changing year. It started when the company I worked for, Westsylvania Heritage Corporation changed the way they were doing business.


The Wreck of the Hilma Hooker

Location(s) Bonaire Tourism ConfederationKralendijk, BonaireOne of Bonaire’s more famous ship wrecks is the Hilma Hooker, a ship whose name may have led to her demise. The Hooker was having some mechanical failure off the coast of Bonaire. So she was brought to the main pier where she sat for repairs. She was an old ship and her hull had a lot of small leaks. It was during this time that suspicion grew about the sort of cargo she was carrying.


Historic

Today we surround ourselves with things "historic" for many reasons. Many communities experience conflict over attempts to preserve historic neighborhoods.
