The Baker Mansion is decorated for the Holidays. Tours are on Saturday evening December 9th from 7 to 9 pm and Sunday afternoon December 10 from 2 to 4 pm. Because this is the 100 birth year of the Blair County Historical Society the different rooms of the Baker Mansion are decorated in different decade starting with 1906. Admission charged. Did you remember the first artificial tree, hoola hoops, green bean casserole, the poodle skirt, Chex Mix and Spritz cookies?

There will be a Craft Show on Saturday, November 11 from 9am to 3pm in the fellowship hall of Wesley United Methodist Church. You can count on some tasty eating as they will be serving hot dogs and sauerkraut, ham barbeque, sloppy joes, chili,  ham and bean soup, soda and coffee. Orders will also be for some great pies from the Pie Shop. Questions or Pie Orders are being handled through the Church for more information call the Church office at 684-3341.

A holiday Bazaar, yard sale and country store to benefit the Tyrone Chapter of 288 OES will be held Novemebr 11 8 am to 12:30pm at the Tyrone Masonic Hall. There will be Christmas and household items along with clothing in good condition. There will be something for everyone.

A 231st  birthday celebration will be held November 10. Cake cutting will be at 8:30pm and a DJ will begin at 9pm at the United Vets Club, 419 Main Street  Bellwood, Pennsylvania.

The annual veterans day commemoration is scheduled in Tyrone on Saturday. November 11, 2006 beginning at 11am. The event will be held at the Tyrone American Legion and is a joint effort of the Legion and the Tyrone VFW.

It's a beautiful fall weekend -- abandon your household chores for an afternoon and go have some fun! October is a great time to get out and explore your heritage, and chances are there's an event going on close to home where you can share some stories, dance to a tune, and eat great food. If you're organizing an event, let the rest of us know about it here in this forum (dates, location, direction, time, description, etc.).  We just might drop by.  After all, what could be a better excuse for postponing those chores around the house?
