So Much To Say
Why do we tell stories? In my opinion, it is to share with others where we've been, what we've done, and why we are who we are. Should anyone really care about anything we do? Probably not, unless you're they're your family or friend, and even in some of those cases no one may care about what you have to say.
I will be honest...there are lots of posts on here from people I don't know...but from some of the stories on here, there are people I don't care to know based on what they write, and others who I think would be fun to sit around the campfire with based on what they have to say. When you think about it, EVERY story is a "had to be there" situation.
I tell stories because I like to make people laugh, and even if someone wasn't there to share a situation, maybe my stories will brighten someone's day, and when they read them they think "man, been there, done that," then they think back to a time that was similar that made them smile. That's what this is all about. As long as its kept rated G or PG.
So when you think about it, this kind of storytelling is no different than hearing the latest news about Paris Hilton, Britney Spears or Lindsey Lohan...
Frankly, I don't care about them.
Why should anyone care about anyone else's stories? Because they help us find parts of ourselves we didn't know we had, or because we feel a connection to whoever the storyteller is. That's why we buy biographies and autobiographies in the bookstore. Not because "you had to be there" to appreciate it.
The storytelling on here is real life stuff, and regardless of whether or not I "was there", there are stories I read because no matter what, everyone is part of history, no matter what their story is. But regardless of if I like someone's story or not, the smallest story, crazy or tame, could shape major events in the history of the world. And that, my friends, is important.

Personal storytelling
Nice job, Mike. You clearly understand the power of personal narratives to change the world.
