The Life of Ebay

Making a Living on Ebay

I have had alot of people ask me what my "ebay secrets" are lately, so I figure I'll start blogging about it here.  Hopefully someone here can benefit from this.

My secret is "TIME".  You all wouldn't believe the amount of time that I spend on the internet reading.  I do alot research on ebay technique, etc.  There is alot of competition, but with some dedication anyone can do it.  One of the main keys is to always be "connected" to be able to finalize a sale at anytime.    As time goes on, people seem to get more impatient waiting for answers to questions.  When they want to buy a product they want to buy it NOW.  People buy on emotion and buy "in the moment".  This means that when they have money in their pocket ready to spend, you have to have your products ready to sell and be able to answer every question that they would have about it.  What does this mean?  Well, if you ask anyone that knows me... I carry 3 Smartphones on 3 different networks.  A treo 650 on the Sprint network, A Samsung 730I on Verizon, and of course the new Iphone on AT&T.  The big question... WHY????

Well, I'll give you an example.  I'm in walmart shopping... I'm checking my mail as usual from my Iphone and someone asks a question about a product ranging in the $700 range.  On Ebay there are a TON of competitors.  It was because I was able to stand in line and answer his question from my Iphone while waiting to pay for my groceries that I made the sale..

Now, alot of people would say that it sounds really inconvenient to be answering email while in Walmart.   Yes, it is inconvenient, but in my opinion, it is alot more inconvenient to sit in an office and work from 9 to 5 for 30 years of your life answering to someone else.  I'd rather answer some emails :)

One thing that I will tell you is that it takes alot of commitment to always be able to answer questions at any time.  When I'm on vacation in Florida I'm answering email.  When I'm at a restaurant eating...  I'm answering email.  When I'm driving in my car... I'm answering email (at a stop light of course :).  When I'm sitting at the kitchen table at home eating dinner with the family.... I'm answering email.  Yes, it still sounds inconvenient... but still better than a "JOB".

The point is that I truely love what I do.  I love helping others learn the system... but it isn't something that you'll learn overnight.  For example, it is now 2am and I am up on the internet brainstorming.

Awhile back I wrote a short ebook (electronic book) that explains the techniques that I use to make a living on Ebay.  This is a book that I wrote one night and had copyrighted.  No, it was not to make me rich... just a way to help others learn to make a living from home or have their own home business.  The fee that I charge for the book is to cover some of my time that I then spend helping people after reading it.  If anyone is interested in it, I can get you a copy for about $20.

Take care and I'll be back to post again soon!
