Stories of Faith and Trust
Ethan, my son, got to take his first swim in the swimming pool this weekend. I of course was very nervous. I wondered how he would react to the water. He allowed his mother to place him in my grip and swim with me in the shallow end of the pool. He did fine, as a matter of fact he did cry, when we took him out of the pool. He enjoyed the swim because he had trust. Trust that his dad would not let go of him.
Trust means putting aside the fear we have inside us and to place our faith in something we can not see. When riding a roller coaster, I place a lot of trust in the person who inspects and maintains the track and cars and I place trust in the engineer who designed the roller coaster and I place trust in the materials used to create the roller coaster. My fear inside says this is a bad idea but I place my trust in the fact that this ride has never had an accident.
Sure it requires faith. Everyday we step out in faith. I jokingly tell people that every time I sit in a chair I have faith that the molecules that make up the glue, the wood, the nails and the casters will hold my weight and not allow me to crash to the floor. Stories of faith and trust inspire. What is your Trust story? This week take the time to share your faith and trust stories.
