I love a new business and so I thought I would capture the story of this store which hails itself as the delicious alternative to flowers.

 

When you talk to Jeannette Rutherford she is the quintessential entrepreneur. Jeannette and her sister do it all from marketing to designing gift bouquets. They can create a beautiful custom bouquet in 45 minutes complete with colorful paper, containers, and delicious candy. The work is so beautiful you almost hate to tear open a piece of chocolate truffle or hard candy. Jeannette informs me that people will eat the candy and then put the wrapper around a marble and place the piece back into the bouquet to keep it looking good.

 

Jeannette loves to talk and listen to her customers. For example, many people in Hollidaysburg would stop in the store and tell stories about buying Gardners’ Candy in downtown Hollidaysburg. So Jeannette labored over the decision and decided to give her customers what they wanted. She has a tempting rack of peanut butter meltaways, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered popcorn (YUM), and so much more. She listens to the customer and then finds a way to meet their needs. That is good customer service

 

This is truly a gift shop and they carry more than bouquets. They are getting into candles, soaps, they have plush animals and carry the hard to get Webkinz animals and so much more. She and her sister want to be the place you go to when you need a unique gift for a friend or for a son or daughter’s favorite coach.

 

As some of you on this site are already aware of I am in the process of looking for a new home. I can only hope that once I buy a new house my realtor will have the foresight to stop in at Candy Bouquet and pick up a house warming gift such as the one pictured here.
