Trout fishing suggestions

Does anybody have suggestions for trout fishing places near Altoona-State College, PA?

I've got company coming this weekend. Not being an angler myself, I don't know what streams, especially at this time of year, to recommend. I believe the kid prefers bait fishing to fly fishing. Any suggestions as to where he can go and have a little fun?

Thanks.

Set the hook

Trout fishing in July is a challenge, but if you are determined, then go to Bellefonte.  Spring Creek flows through town and is loaded with trout.  Across the road from that Gamble Mill restaurant is a small parking area.  Fish downstream from that point.  This is a catch and release area but you are permitted to use bait.  I suggest whole kernel corn or salmon eggs.  If you want them, I have some egg sacs - "for sure" bait.

Don't forget to go to the park in the middle of town and feed the fish just for fun - large palominos and rainbows.

Depending on the age of the "kid," here is  plan B - find a lake with a population of carp and bluegills, pack a large cooler with snacks and beverages, take a few folding chairs, and your corn and some worms.

Bonus!

Gee, I might have to go along -- sounds like a great excuse to treat ourselves to a meal at Gamble Mill. It's one of my favorites!

Thanks for the tip.

Sounds like a plan
