A pot of gold
We did not find the end of a rainbow or follow a leprechaun to a secret treasure location, but my wife and I did discovered a great family operated restaurant in Cranesville, Pennsylvania. (close proximity to Erie)
Crowley's Restaurant and Lounge is located a short walk [200 feet] from The Green Roof Inn where we were staying so we made the walk, visited with Jack and Noma Jean [NJ] Crowley, and enjoyed a great evening meal.
The food was delicious - we had steak salads, fresh bread sticks, and iced tea. Yes, not exactly the house specialty, but that was what we wanted. We had to pass on the dessert too, sorry. Food critics we are not, but the other couples and families in the busy restaurant seemed to be enjoying a variety of great meals also.
Their menu covers the entire range of appetizers, entrees, and desserts; so rest assured you have great options and you will get quality food and service.
Trust me, excellent food is a given and this restaurant loaded with stories, pictures, crafts, and artifacts of the people who live nearby or have dined here. Some of the booths were fomerly church pews. A gentleman from Edinboro makes the wooden tables. A group photo with Ray "Boom-Boom" Mancini, Muhammad Ali and the Crowleys hangs on wall. An antique ,DC current double faced-clock from a nearby school is still keeping time at the restaurant.
Did I mention that a colony of Purple Martins call the backyard of the restaurant home- at least during the summer. They winter in Brazil. Talk about frequent flyer miles!
As you enter, the "pub" entrance offers secluded booths, tables, and a small bar area where I noticed customers enjoying a beverage while waiting for their table in the cozy middle room or the spacious back room with a great scenic view of the Erie County countryside.
We were seated near the entrance pub area and got to see NJ in action as she personally greeted and seated customers and managed the customer exit process as well. She and all staff members were in constant motion.
A friend of the Crowley's, Scott Smith, was eating with us so he introduced us to Jack and NJ Crowley. They managed to take a few minutes to talk to us before the resposibilities of serving meals drew them away and back into the hustle. I did get the okay to return and take a few video clips on another day.
Coming to Cranesville any time soon? No. Okay, how about Erie - close enough. Crowley's Restaurant & Lounge is about 20-minutes from downtown Erie's Bayfront [all interstate travel].
If you are planning to travel Interstate 90 through Pennsylvania and need a quick lunch or early dinner. Take Platea/Girard Exit 9 - go south on Route 18 for 2-minutes and visit with NJ and Jack and enjoy a meal and the friendly, homestyle atmosphere.
Don't worry If you stay too long, you can call next door to The Green Roof Inn, reserve a room and walk over and spend a restful night.
Let these videos be your invitation to visit.

Thank you, Jack. I already have it installed in my GPS! Can't wait to see, visit and drink here. Great blog, and awesome video. I can imagine St. Paddy's Day there. What a friendly place. I love homey Irish pubs and key west bars. Thanks again. Don't know when I'm playing Erie, again...perhaps this autumn, and I'll have to make a pit stop. Cory G.

Perfect fit!
You will like this place and the owners. Too bad you did your Cleveland trip already.
