Wondering about gas prices as you plan for the holiday weekend? Check this out

I don't know about you all, but the price of gas is causing me to adjust my plans for the weekend. Instead of traveling 200 miles, I'm only going about 80, and saving about $20 in gas.

But I did come across this pretty neat site that monitors gas prices. And, they use the same map that we use here on StoryTrax, so you won't have to learn anything new! So, check it out before you travel somewhere, and take your fat wallet.

Gas Prices!

The other day a Senator got up to address the concerns over the increase in gas prices. Senators want to push forward a bill that penalizes oil companies for the "record" profits they are making and the supposed gas gouging taking place. Unbelievable! Do you want the Federal Government to tell businesses how much money they can make? This is unacceptable. I do not want the federal government telling me how much money I make. The senator went on to say he just does not understand why the price of gas is going up. Well let me inform him, it is a little thing I call "SUPPLY AND DEMAND ECONOMICS" the lower the supply the higher the demand the more we pay. Perhaps the Federal and State Governments would like to relieve some of the taxes levied on the purchase of gas OR perhaps the regulations for building new refineries could be loosened. We do not hear about those solutions.

I am driving less. We are not taking any big trips but then again I have not taken a big road trip in two years. My family and I are enjoying the time in the yard and taking walks. That is my idea of a fun way to spend a holiday.

What are they thinking?!

I heard that, too, and couldn't believe my ears! To penalize a company because they make money? It's ridiculous. Just more proof that Congress is losing touch with reality.

The solutions that have been offered to lessen our "oil addiction," as the President calls it, are all beginning to sound alike. Many of the ideas for "alternative fuels" almost sound like old-fashioned get-rich-quick schemes; they promise a lot, but when you look at them closely, they don't seem to be very well supported by science, technology, or even common sense.

I guess it's just one of those curious coincidences of history, though, that oil companies make record profits when there's an (ex) oil man in the White House. Hmmm. . .

didn;t change much

we still are going to my SILs house in PGH, whether gas is high or not.  hmm.

i think the groceries that give gas perks are the way to go tho....they really are helping us out!

Yeah, I've begun grocery shopping only at places that offer the "perks," too. My goal is to get a tank of gas for under a dollar a gallon sometime!
