Introducing the forum

The forum topic “so what” outlined our philosophy at Storytrax about the power of stories to change our understanding of the world and enhance the human condition when told in the context of heritage conservation (stories illustrating the principle of the most good for the greatest number of people over the longest period of time). To that end we plan to weekly populate the forum with a topic in three parts. In the first part we will identify a topic common to our current collective experience and tell it as a story under the heading “The Present Experienced”. We hope our fellow storywrights will suggest current topics by email or in your blogs.

We will then try to reference stories from the past which serve to provide useful insight into the topic under the heading, “The Past Remembered”. Here we hope you will participate through comments and your own blogspace at Storytrax. We believe our collective experiences can inform the current topic in ways previously unimagined.

Finally, we will attempt to suggest a better way to deal with similar issues as they arise under the topic, “The Future Anticipated”. Again we will seek your participation through comments and blogs and attempt to summarize in a story format.

We are meeting next Monday (04/23/07) to select the first “The Present Experienced” topic so please share your thoughts with us. We will initially attempt to do this three part exercise weekly and will shorten or extend the process as experience suggests. We are excited about applying storytelling to problem solving in the web 2.0 environment and hope you will come to share our excitement as this effort progresses.

We hope to see you soon at Storytrax.
