The Key West Golf Club and Pirating Swim Time

Sunday afternoon, we decided it was time to go swimming.  Not in the ocean...no, no, no.  Seeing as how our condo didn't have an operating pool due to one of the recent hurricanes, Cory and Steve thought it was best to head over to the Key West Golf Club as they'd stayed there before and the same company that owned them owned our condo.  Seems right doesn't it?  A pool can't be provided one place, so we'll go get the next best thing.

As we pulled up to the gate, we told the security guy, we'll call him "Bob", where we were staying, and that we had been denied access to a pool, because, well, it wasn't there.  He must have sensed the desperation in Cory's voice, and he sympathized with our plight.  Much to our delight, he let us in.

The pool was a tropical courtyard...it was like being in a whole different world...Palm trees, clear blue sky, the whole set up...It was a perfect place to lounge in the sun.  We were there for what felt like hours.  Bob even came down to check things out.  Cory and Steve hopped in the water for a bit, and Larry and I just kind of lounged around in big white beach chairs as we thought "This is the Life."  We had no cares, and were completely at peace.  We discussed what our plans would be for the evening.  Since it was so nice, we'd go to Mallory Square for a famed sunset.

Bob could have lost his job that day.  Turns out, in the world of resorts, just because you stay in one place doesn't mean you can swim in a better place.  It's like sitting in the wrong concert seats.  Bob...what a brave man.  He will one day be rewarded for his deed.  To quote PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN:  "Sometimes in pursuing the right course of action, Piracy can itself be the right course."  Indeed.  Bob, our tri-corn hats are off to you.

Picture Perfect

I wish Mikey would tag a photograph of this Parrothead's Paradise. This is where he and I began blueprinting a kids book called 'PI-RATS'. or was it PIE-RATS...did the rats break into the galley and steal the Pie, Mikey? I can't remember, too much run in the sum...i mean rum in the sun.
