Open Windows
Location(s)
Could it be possible? Could spring be on its way? Now that the deluge of snow from last week has melted (ahh yes, SnowGirl is a memory now!), I've had the occasion to open the windows of various enclosures I spend my days in.
I opened my classroom window to get some fresh air (sometimes teenage boys STINK!)
I opened my Jeep windows to feel the wind in my hair....(OK, there were some conspicuous odors from the backseat!)
I opened the windows at my brother's house where I was painting...and needed ventilation before Pink Elephants flew past.
I went into my bathroom to find an open window (not usually a good sign) but this time it was.....the Dran-o had just done it's job (hence the need for ventilation) but the breeze carried my curtains up a bit, and momentarily I thought wow, this is just like summer, the breeze and sunshine!
Next week is the beginning of Spring, the date being 3/21, almost like a countdown to window opening weather!! Oh wait, does this mean I have to WASH them now????
What are you looking forward to this Spring, besides opening the windows???

Waiting to Scuba
I am waiting for the ice to melt off the Quarry at the Blue Hole. Ready to refresh my diving skills and get in the water.
Clay hardens by immobility – men's minds by standing pat. Both lose the power to take new impressions. (Pinchot 1910: 138)
Spring Fling
I've also sneaked open some windows, and after work today we rode for awhile with the car windows down partway. What a divine treat! We have had daffodils coming up through the snow in our front yard, and I believe they're going to make it. My husband broke the ice up in our small pond, and the waterfall is flowing again. Everything just starts to feel a little perkier this time of year. It's time to end our hibernation. Anne H.
agreed!
I agree--and yesterday it was so gorgeous the kids were outside and Nick (my almost 2yrold) just dove into a mudpuddle...it was great!!!
I'm itching to get in my garden....bought some shamrock plants at the grocery store to give some more green in the house!
And the buzzards are back!
I, too, have been opening windows today and am considering a move to the sunny corner of the porch with a book for the afternoon. Yesterday I saw the first batch of buzzards riding the thermals above the Frankstown Branch of the Juniata. In the last decade or so that I've been paying attention to them, I usually see them about March 15, so they're a little early this year. And the yard was full of robins!
As far as winters go, this really hasn't been bad at all -- it's just always so much better to be on the back side. I am counting on at least a few more days of crappy weather so I'll force myself to stay in and finish the taxes!
