THE NEIGHBORHOOD TROLLEY

My most prized possession is a hand carved/ hand painted trolley from Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.  Fred gave it to me as a graduation present from art school.  He signed and dated it, but the inscription read I'M PROUD OF YOU

To get the trolley, as a gift  from Mr. Rogers was out of this world!  Did you know that some children thought the trolley's name was Charlie?  Little kids sometimes can't pronounce the word trolley, and it sounds like Charlie. How about this, I got my trolley a few days after Bill Clinton got his.  And, did you know, actor Michael Keaton got his start by operating the trolley and Picture Picture on Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.

I'm Proud of You is the name of one of the songs Fred used to sing on the Neighborhood show.

I'm proud of you. I'm proud of you.
I hope that you're as proud as
I am proud of you.
I'm proud of you.
I hope that you are proud

And that you're
Learning how important you are,
How important each person you see can be.
Discovering each one's specialty
Is the most important learning.

I'm proud of you. I'm proud of you.
I hope that you're as proud as
I am proud of you.
I'm proud of you.
I hope that you are proud of you, too!

For those of you who don't know about the Trolley, it's Fred's object of transition he uses to go from his interior at home set to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.
