CAPTAIN AMERICA DEAD!
Check it out for yourself. http://edition.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/books/03/07/captain.america/
No way should they be killing off the most patriotic superhero of all time. Especially right now. Marvel Comics must be getting ready to launch a new movie. Way to go, Marvel for bringing our favorite characters back to life.
The remake of Fantastic Four blew away the one made 20 years ago. The Spider Man trilogy is much better than the disco battered Spidey series of the late 1970's. If they are going to make a Cappy America, go for it. The one they did before CGI absolutely stinks. Of course, back then we thought it was great. Even DC is doing okay, with Batman and Superman. Although, personally, give me the Christopher Reeve Superman over any of the other ones, please. I still enjoy watching the old 1960's comical Batman TV series, but like the Dark Knight version they are putting on the big screen nowadays.
The only new remake I did not like was THE HULK. The best part, in my opinion...and everyone is entitled to my opinion...is the Stan Lee ( MARVEL CEO ) and LOU THE HULK FERRIGNO'S cameo appearance in the beginning of the movie. The cinematography was cool with the whole 'comic book look', but no way will they ever put as much heart into the Dr.David Bruce Banner like the late Bill Bixby did in the old TV series.
I think old comic book junkies, like myself, would agree that even with the awesome CGI Hulk transformation in the movie didn't have the same effect as the old show did. When Bill Bixby's eyes would turn a glowing white, they'd play that suspenseful soundbyte and you knew someone was going to be tossed into the sky. The Incredible Hulk's metamorphosis was awesome when he'd rip out of his bell bottoms and dock siders and turn green with envy.
One of the most popular episodes on Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood was back in 1980 when Fred visited Bill and Lou on the Hulk set in Hollywood. I found the clip too. Get yourself a soda because it's about 10 minutes in duration. Fred was talking to the children about Monsters, Superheroes and Make-Believe and decides he and Mr. McFeely would go to tinsletown to talk with another soft spoken gentleman, Bill Bixby. I actually recall playing phone tag with Mr. Bixby in 1993, the year he passed away. Never made contact with him...rats.
After the taping of this episode, Bill's 5 year old son at the time, died a short time after, and then his wife committed suicide not too long after that. Oh, my heavens, I couldn't even begin to understand what he must have went through. And, then for him to die so young of cancer too during his directing years of the comedy Blossom was a huge loss to the entertainment world. Fred always spoke so highly of Bill Bixby. He was such a remarkable man.
Note: I'm searching for a good clip of Fred with Lou putting on his Hulk make up. The one I found was blurry and in French.
