A BEAUTIFUL CHURCH WITH MAGNIFICENT ARTWORK

I recently had the wonderful opportunity to visit a good friend of mine, Fr. Bob Yetsko, in one of  my favorite Pennsylvania towns of Punxsutawney.  Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church is truly remarkable.  It's been years since I visited Russia, and several things that I remember fondly were the Orthodox Churches and the Art Museums.  When Fr. Bob welcomed us into his church, memories of Russia filled my head.  I'm going to try to get Fr. Bob to start blogging about the history of the church, because it's absolutely fantastic.  The tour he gave us was great.  The work he and his parishoners put into this church is incredible.

I'm a Roman Catholic, and have always wanted to attend mass at a Byzantine Catholic Church.  We stayed for mass and I really got an education.  Here's some more photos.

Absolutely beautiful.  I can only show these photos with you, for I don't know the entire story with each relic and icon in the church, but Fr. Bob would be glad to give you a personal tour.  He is so cool and very much into world and church history.  You can tell when he talks how much he loves what he does.

These next two icons are just absolutely wonderful.  The first dipicts St. Peter and the second St. Paul

The Roman Catholic Church is right down the street from Fr. Bob's Church.  It's called Sts. Cosmo and Damian. Fr. Bob has a truly remarkable blessing, he is ordained to say mass in both Roman and/or Byzantine Catholic Churches.  He's an interesting fellow.  And, his dog Sam is cool too.  I wonder if he named him Sam because it's Mas(s) spelled in reverse.  IF YOU GO TO PUNXY, HERE'S A FEW PLACES TO STOP BEFORE GOING TO SEE ST. PETER AND PAUL'S CHURCH. ( BY THE WAY, EVERYONE NEEDS TO EXPERIENCE GROUNDHOG'S DAY FEB 2 AT GOBBLER'S KNOB AT LEAST ONCE IN THEIR LIFE. AND THE GROUDHOG'S FESTIVAL, WHICH IS USUALLY HELD AROUND JULY 4TH TIME )

I had a luncheon with my  buddy Tom Miller and some other friends at the Historic Pantall Hotel http://www.pantallhotel.com/  right in the middle of town on Rte. 36.  If you go to Punxy, have lunch there and check out the party room in the penthouse. Wait till you see the 30 different statues of Themed Punxy Phils spread out throughout the town. Pantall's gift shop has all the post cards and posters of the sculptures.

Around the corner of the Pantall is THIS AND THAT COFFEE CAFE with wonderful workers and the decor is very cool; Old Movies.  I understand the owner's daughter is a producer in Hollywood, I need to find out some more information.  I saw lots of photos of the owner at THE TV LAND AWARDS with a lot of old time TV Stars.  I had  the pumpkin pie spiced chi. mmmmmmmmm goooooooooood.

Directly across the Hotel, through the park is the Punxy library and the Groundhog's Zoo. That's where Phil hang's out in the off season.  Great place for a photo shoot.  Here's me with one of the statues ( I'm the one not wearing the top hat )
