CORY-ographics

It's up and running. Monday and Wednesday afternoons and evenings I am teaching my ART FUNSHOPS to kids grades K-9. The emphasis is on Cartoons, Comics and Caricatures, but basic drawing is being taught as well, along with creative writing.
I have had several requests for teaching private art lessons and making house calls. That's great with me! I've done it before. Just as long as the student is comfortable. Instead of bringing a medical bag, I tote a little portfolio of art supplies.
Parents have also inquired about me teaching to home schooled students and special needs artists too. Yes, yes and yes. I taught to a handful of artists in a small group art class at the Becky Sheetz Center and all were ARC members. We had a blast! And, teaching to the home schooled artist is a lot of fun for me and the student, just because it's a change of pace and a friendly new face. These sessions are for the really good artists and for the people who can't even draw a straight line with a ruler. I am here to help.

Tuesdays and Thursdays I am teaching Square, Round and Line Dancing for all ages, mostly adults.
Solo line dancing ( no partner needed ) it's more of an aerobics workout, than the typical line dancing you see on CMT. I do use some country music, but really like Oldies Rock and Roll and 80's Retro music. Oh, and we wear sneakers instead of boots.
Round Dancing ( couples dancing ) is a easier form of Ball Room Dancing, because a Cuer leads the show from a mike telling you the moves as they happen. It's really cool. Especially if you are a novice and always wanted to try ballroom, but just didn't have the guts. Round Dancing, to me, is like Ballroom for Dummies. That's why I teach it, because you can learn a lot from a dummy.
Square Dancing ( group/team dancing ) This is not the typical banjo and fiddle music you may imagine. The Modern Western Style is much more cerebral, and lots of fun. No fancy costumes at my club. Dress casual and comfortable. I use a variety of music ranging from Country to Hip Hop, and Polkas to Rap, and Gospel to Latino. It's a fun way to get fit. You may be too old to cut the mustard, but you're never too old to cut a rug!

joie de vivre

Thank you to both of you for the great testimonials. Jess, you spoke French? Vielen Danke! Erin, Happy 35th! Thanks for the Art Funshops post too. Every little bit helps out. I really do appreciate you two. :)

Fun Art!

I too can attest to the amazing Cory & his art class.  After ONE CLASS, my daughter has asked me every morning if she can go to Cory's today PLEASE!!!  The fact she has to wait till Monday is not  acceptable.  She really enjoyed it and learned a bunch in one session that he made fun for her.   He drew talent out of her I was not sure she possessed.

Even if he wasn't my favorite (older) cousin I would recommend his abilities to make any of the arts fun----basically Cory has a joie de vivre I envy.

Talent Abounds

Cory is very talented. I am not saying that just because he is like a brother to me. You learn, you have fun, and you ask "where did the time go?" Cory is selling his classes online check it out, Art Funshops with Cory. We are working on setting up Cory with the ability to accept credit cards online.

As one of his kids have said "Cory is a cartoon himself".

OH and one more thing. Square Dancing with Cory is not like the square dancing you did in high school. As Cory has said High School gym teachers have been the downfall of square dancing. The casual atmosphere (Jeans and a t-shirt) and the music are a lot of fun. I find myself singining a Billy Joel song while doing the "Right and Left Grand". Awesome! Then there is the exercise you receive from dancing. It does a body good and it keeps the mind sharp.

Cory offers fun for all ages. He won't toot his horn but I will and I am sure there are others out there who will tell you just how much fun you have at Cory's dance classes and Art Funshops.
