I've gotta thank my mom and dad for giving such a versatile name. CORY is the nicest 4 lettered word I've ever been called. I never knew how much fun I could have with that name , until I went into business for myself. Art, music and dance have been so much of my life, it's just a delight to be able to make a living out of doing what I love. Here's some fun things I do, to keep outta trouble.
CORYcatures CARICATURE ARTIST The Art of Making Funny FacesÂ
Cory will draw funny caricatures at proms, festivals, reunions, weddings and parties. This is a great side entertainment to have. Please check out some of the caricatures by Cory at www.cory-ographics.com, under CARICATURES BUBBLE & CARTOONS. Cory has been drawing since his days at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Doodling at the 3 Rivers Arts Festival, Del Grosso's Amusement Park and Lakemont Park. His two big seasons for caricatures is in the spring for proms and in the winter for holiday office parties. Send him a photograph and attach the person's name and hobbies and he can get a B&W or color caricature off to you in no time.
CORYokayCROONER ( Singing & Serenading to the Seniors )Â
Calling all Senior Centers, Personal Care Homes, Nurning Facilities and Assisted Living Communities! This is a comical treat for all the residents, families and friends of the community. Cory sings songs from the Roaring 20's through the Fabulous 50's and then some.
Cory brings in his keyboard and plays interesting medleys to sing along, hum along, whistle along or just tap too. His specialty are Old Cowboy Campfire Songs. " I enjoy playing songs the folks know by heart", says Cory. "When I was an activities director, the singers who sang more contemporary hits, just got smiles and polite applause from the residents. When I sing to the crowd, it's like 'gang karaoke'."
It's a toe tapping, hand clapping, finger snapping, arm flapping, knee slapping jamboree!
CORYography Handi-capable Dancing ( Physically and Mentally Challenged )Â
Cory has two kinds of Handi-capable Dancing with two different styles. He teaches Square and Line Dancing to his WHEELCHAIR SQUARE DANCE CLUB and for his SPECIAL OLYMPICS group.
With wheelchair square dancing, there are several different variations;
1. Residents in wheelchairs, with a chauffeur maneuvering the chair (ie. nursing centers, older)
A. Dancing 4 chairs (mini-squares)
B. Dancing 6 chairs ( facing lines)
C. Dancing 8 chairs ( tradional square dancing ) depending size of the hall
2. Each person in the wheelchair operates the chair ( ie. like wheelchair basketball, younger)
A. Standard Wheelchairs
B. Motorized Scooters
When calling for the mentally challenged, Cory and coach Tom Miller teach Modern Western Square Dancing with either all special olympics dancers or 4 handi-capable dancers and 4 angel/graduate/experienced dancers.
Go to DOSADO.COM and search for US HANDI-CAPABLE DANCERS and see if there's a club in your neck of the woods
Wanna know something really unique? Cory has called square dances for Water Aerobics groups ( in the water ), Therapeutic Horseback Riding ( on horseback ) and Dog Shows (owners dancing with their pups ) There are callers out there who call to people on tractors too.
