Honesdale, PAWayne County, PA was formed on March 21, 1798, from Northampton County. It is named for Revolutionary War General Anthony Wayne. Railroad history was made near Honesdale, when the Stourbridge Lion, the first locomotive in the United States to run on a commercial track, was tested. Honesdale, the county seat, was incorporated in 1831 and was western terminus of D & H Canal.
