Doylestown, PABucks County was one of Pennsylvania's three original counties. It was formed in 1682 by William Penn, who built his home, Pennsbury Manor, here. The name is derived from an abbreviation for Buckinghamshire, England. Doylestown, chosen as county seat in 1812, was incorporated in 1838.
