A Tree-reffic Fish Tale

When I was a boy, we had a small pond in the valley behind our house. It was surrounded by a peaceful wooded setting. It had a great grassy bank to sit on. My brother and I would take our cheap, Kmart fishing rods and tackle gear down to the pond to fish for Bluegills. As my brother hauled in fish after fish, I came back with the same worm on my hook.

On the final cast of the day my fishing line got wrapped around a tree branch. The hook and line went into the water. I pulled and tugged but nothing happened. When out of no where a fish took the bait! I am still unclear to this day, did I catch that fish or did the tree catch the fish?
