A Song that describes YOU
Is there a song or songs thaT seem to be 'your song'? Not a song for you and your mate, but just you. I'm talking about the lyrics that seem to fit you and your personality to a tee? Is there a ballad that has so many one liners that describe perhaps your job or your hobbies?
I have 2 songs that come to mind for me. The first is just absolutely insane. It's by that popular medley arrangers group, from the late 80's, JIVE BUNNY AND THE MASTER MIXERS. They have a song called CRAZY PARTY MIX. My best friend agrees fully with me that it should be renamed, INSIDE THE MIND OF CORY G. There are classic songs that were some of the first songs that I learned on the piano when I was a lad. Also some of the first songs I called for square dances are on this ditty. Other songs have some kind of a story or funny history with me. For example, THE FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLE BEE ( deathly afraid of bees when I was a kid, and I remember the Great Gonzo performing one of his silly stunts to this music on the Muppet Show )
To make the song even more on a personal level, there are cartoon character voices sparatically singing as well as comical sound effects all intertwined to make this ridiculous 5 minute medley, that could possibly be my theme music. Not only do I have a collection of many Merrie Melodies animations on DVD, but Mel Blanc was one of my heroes. I've thought about putting the music at my website that I am building, but the viewers would need to take NyQuil after listening to 30 seconds of this looney tune.
Here's just a list of the exerpts of this song, sans cartoon characters.
Crazy Party Theme
Oh Susannah
Yellow Rose Of Texas
William Tell Overture
Flight Of The Bumble Bee
Yankee Doodle
Scotland The Brave
When The Saints Come Marching In
Blue Tail Fly
Sailor's Hornpipe
I'M GROWING OLDER BUT NOT UP
As i studied the shortstop's position
Crack went my leg like the shell of an egg
Someone call a decent physician
I'm no pete rose, i can't pretend
Though my mind is quite flexible, these brittle bones don't bend
Chorus:
I'm growing older but not up
My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck
Let those winds of time blow over my head
I'd rather die while i'm living than live while i'm dead
Sometimes i see me as old manatee
Headin' south as the waters grow colder
Tries to steer clear of the hum-drum so near
It cuts prop scars deep in his shoulder
But that's how it goes (that's how it goes), right to the end
Though his body's quite flexible, that barnacle brain don't bend
Chorus:
I'm growing older but not up
My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck
Let those winds of time blow over my head
I'd rather die while i'm livin' than live while i'm dead
Now don't get me wrong
This is not a sad song
Just events that i have happened to witness
And time takes its toll as we head for the poll
And no one dies from physical fitness
So what the hell, we'll take it right to the end
As the days grow more complicated the nightlife still wins
Chorus:
I'm growing older but not up
My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck
Let those winds of change blow over my head
I'd rather die while i'm living than live while i'm dead
Let those winds of time blow over my head
I'd rather die while i'm living than live while i'm dead
