WARM AND FUZZY TIME OF YEAR
IT'S THE WARM AND FUZZY TIME OF THE YEAR

Last night was the home opener for the Altoona Curve Baseball team, and okay, change the title....IT WAS THE COLD AND RAINY TIME OF THE YEAR. This above photo was just snapped on Monday, and it felt like June, but last night felt like February. Our local newspaper wrote a very nice article about mascots and the above photo was taken by my buddy Gary Baranec.
The article went on to describe what a day in the life of a mascot is like, as well as promoting certain mascot days at the ballpark. One thing the reporter left out, was the fact that all the main mascots for our team DO NOT HIBERNATE over the winter. I would just like to say how proud I am of the other mascots in our department. One of the guys ( the hot dog above photo) is a trained martial artist and a method actor/ stuntman. Another mascot works for the NCAA and NBA when baseball season is resting, he is dribbling basketballs. He travels all over the United States. One of our other mascots works for the Johnstown Chiefs (Slapshot) hockey in the off season. The newest addition has been a clown and is a cartoonist and is only 16 years old and also is an actor.
With an impressive credential list as the above, sadly I am the most inactive. During the off season, I change from the wearing of the green to the donning of the reds. I play Santa Claus for Lakemont Park ( adjacent to our ball park ) from Thanksgiving till Christmas Eve. But, contrary to popular belief, we all stay busy and dizzy and warm and fuzzy.
