NFL Super Bowl Ad

Football and Football Stories. I love it!

I was unable to take in a lot of the Super Bowl ads last night. I was busy visiting with family and watching my son. I did catch a few and after reviewing some of those ads I still like the ones I saw last night. My favorite ad had to be the NFL commercial.

Over 240 NFL players told their stories to the camera for the 2008 NFL Super Ad. There were a lot of great stories shared but only one could be selected and that was Ephraim Salaam’s story about his team mate Chester Pitts. Evidently the only thing Chester played was the oboe, and then one day Ephraim tells Chester he should play football. So he goes out for the football team only to eventually get drafted in the second round. Ephraim goes in the seventh round. Chester now lives the dream of being an NFL football player, thanks to Ephraim.

I really like what the NFL did with this concept. Stories are unique. Stories define us. I was impressed with the other stories found at the NFL website. The stories I heard were telling.  It really showed these guys in a new light. the stories are of men trying to make it in the tough game of football. So watching football players share their own unique stories about their experiences in the NFL and allow us the opportunity to listen was a great idea. Kudos to the NFL and to the men who shared their stories.

By the way a close second was the Coke commercial featuring the Macy's Day Balloons.

Great game, and great time with the family sure made last night a memorable Super Bowl Party.

A great game, mediocre ads

I was impressed that there was actually a football game worth watching. I felt that the crop of ads on the whole though was not so super. And Tom Petty was spectacular at half time! But the combination of a good game, the potential for entertaining ads, and a great halftime show left me in a real dilemma -- there was no break! It was hard to find a time to dash out of the room for . . . well, for anything! I was so "relieved" when that final one second finally ticked off the clock.

I did enjoy the ads you mentioned, but I think my favorite was Ben Rothlisberger singing the Pina Colada song. Yikes. Don't quit your day job, Ben!

Everyone's entitled to my opinion

I thought the best part of the game was the last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter.  The ads didn't do much for me that night, but when I watched them the next morning on the computer, they seemed funnier.  I guess less distractions.  I did learn that more toilets are flushed during half time of the super bowl all over the usa than any other time of the year.  And, Dolphin stadium has an architectual structure under their stands called a 'vomitorium', and I won't go into detail. The useless cliff clavin knowledge is my favorite. CG
