Hoping False Alarm at 0530

Sooner or later I knew it was going to happen.  We had an alarm system put in about 6 months ago after someone broke into our house.  This morning I was woken by a screaming siren going off.  I sat up, grabbed my gun and went down the steps to find a door that was open.  From a past experience, I can tell you that there is absolutely no worse feeling than knowing someone may be hiding in your house.  My little boy crying and my wife shaking.  I called family right away to have them rush over because Rosco P. Coletrain doesn't really start his day until the donut shop opens and the morning paper comes.  My parents were here within 5 minutes.  We searched the house inside and out to find no one.  We're thinking (HOPING) that the heavy wind pushed against our big garage door and the gust opened the inside door (maybe it wasn't latched)?  All of our doors have to be closed up in order for our alarm to go off.  Last June we were broken into and I slept with my gun for about 6 months.  After finally getting some comfort and security again at night, I guess its time to go back to sleeping with the gun again.   I pray it was the wind.

I'm writing this just to remind you to keep doors locked tight at night.  Even if you live 30 minutes from nowhere, its just always good to lock up.

God Bless,

Mike

Comfort

Take comfort in that all worked according to plan. The Alarm went off, the company called about the alarm, and you did not accidentally shoot the broom standing in the corner of the kitchen. :-)

Hope you sleep better tonight.
