New Year Thoughts
New Year Thoughts
Here it is again, the beginning of the New Year 2008. I meant to write a Christmas story for StoryTrax; but time didn’t allow it. We celebrated with family and friends and had a wonderful Christmas. We thank God that the weather was so mild and it didn’t keep people from traveling this season. Santa Claus came and went and left lots of gifts for everyone. My little granddaughter Dana, who is 7 years old, wrote her own story about Santa. But I didn’t get it published because of computer problems. She wrote such a funny story about asking Santa for his ID. She wanted to be sure he was the real thing.
Now, that the holiday is winding down, I thought I would write a little story about the coming year and what it means. Maybe it would be a good time to think about some changes to make. I would try to watch my diet and stay away from too many sugars and fats by eating fresh fruits and vegetables. And for exercise, I think that walking for a half hour a day might be a good plan. I might have to walk indoors if we get bad weather. There is always the treadmill at the “Y” for the Mall for inside walking. But I would rather walk outside in the fresh air, even though it will be cold. Now the changes in diet and exercise take care of my body. How about my soul?
I went to the Hollidaysburg Library last week and took out two excellent books. One is “3:16,” by Max Lucado and the other is “Jesus Christ,” by Pope Benedict. Both of these books contain thoughts about improvement in the spiritual realm. I find Max Lucado’s book easier to read. Pope Benedict’s book contains words that I have to look up in the dictionary. Thanks to my daughter, Betsy, she gave me a small pocket dictionary for Christmas to help me understand some of the difficult words.
For pleasure, I have been making iDVDs of the family parties and giving them to the kids. It gives them a history of our fun filled days and I added some new music that Santa brought us for our Christmas. My husband likes the Irish Singer, Dan O’Donnell and I like Bob Dylan. So I incorporated selections from both albums into the iDVDs. Now I am waiting for more pictures to add. I sent out a SOS to my nephew Dan in Japan. He has three beautiful children and we need some pictures to add for the international effect. And tonight, I plan on doing the “Twilight Race,” at Lakemont to take some pictures of the fascinating light displays this year. It’s a gorgeous sight to see!
Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year 2008!

need to exercise too!
Gosh I really need to exercise too, esp w/ the gluttony of the HOlidays!
I was reading that it's really GOOD for you to walk outside in the cooler weather, that you burn more calories due ot maintaining body temperature. ANd to dress in layers for warmth / cooling.
I'm hoping to carve out that half hour a day sometime, some where!!
Walking
I wrapped a homemade fleece scarf around my face when the cold winds blew. But the last couple days have been so warm, I walked with just a light jacket. Good luck with your walking. A tread mill helps when the weather prohibits.
