Holiday Bliss, with a Crack

Aaahhhh, it had the makings of a gorgeous evening....we had a dinner with a meat, potato, veggies, applesauce, dessert.  We decided to take in our local amusement park's exterior lighting display (you drive through the park and the lights are animated, over the cars, huge, amazing).  Aaaahhh does life get better?
So Nick (2.5 yo) was in my lap, Eve (5yo) was in Al's as he drove.  You drive at about 2MPH, headlights off, so you can see, perfectly safe.  We're gawking away...laughing and looking, and at that point i was thinking aaah... life is wonderful, these kids are wonderful, Christmas is wonderful, this will never get any better than this, the 4 of us in the front seat of this Jeep, enjoying the sights and each other.  Aaah bliss.
And then Nick jumped.
He jumped up and hit the windshield...and I was like OHMYGOD!  I think he cracked the windshield!! And crack it his melonhead did!!!!!
He didn't cry, he didn't speak.  I was so afraid....since he had NO response.  We burst into laughter, and checked him all over...no lump or anything, and 2minutes later he was gawking and laughing and chattering away as if nothing occurred.  When I realized he was OK, then I could release enough to laugh as loud and heartily as Al was.
We ended the drive and visited the parks indoor model train layouts, and he was all train obsessed........and fearful of visiting Santa Claus.  Same Nick as always, despite the 6inch spider web crack in our windshield!
It was a gorgeous evening...with a bit of panic thrown in to keep me on an even keel.  Life ain't a Norman Rockwell rendering, ya know???

New Tradition for the Holidays?

Who knew observing the holiday lights was such a dangerous activity! I can see it now -- along with the traditional mittens, scarves, jackets, snow pants, and knit caps, you can now add the Christmas Crash Helmet!

Glad the only damage was to the vehicle -- it's much easier to fix than a head!

That's Called Using Your Head

FYI Santa is extra jolly on weekends at the park....ho ho ho hint hint hint

good to know....

I was squinting really hard at Santa last night...couldn't get a bearing on him......now I know why!

Ouch

That had to smart. He must have one tough cranium. I am glad to hear he is alright. What a Christmas story to share for generations to come.
