A Crumby Poem

Twas the day after Thanksgiving
Christmas approaching fast
When the women assembled
For the usual holiday task.

It was time to bake cookies
Bright colored and tasty
Lots of dough, yellow and pasty.

Bridget mixed the ingredients
Flour, eggs and butter
And those ancient elements
Baker’s ammonia and rose water.

She rolled the dough thinly
And cut it in shapes
Then off to the table
Where each decorator waits.

Each tray was a challenge
Trees, reindeer and sheep
Bells, stars and ornaments
How long will they keep?

Red and green sugar
Were popular that day
But Megan and Kayley
Were good with the spray.

‘Chelle created art work
Jenna liked cinnamon, red dyed
Mom laid on the sprinkles
And Paula, well, she tried.

Then off to the oven
Timer Pam proved able
Not one burned!
They cooled on the table.

Twenty-nine dozen
Enough for us all
And not one in that kitchen
Missed a trip to the mall.

Christmas cookie poets

Enough with the poems, making Christmas cookies is all about the star shaped ones.  The stars are still the crunchy best.

Crumby Poem

AuntB

Another Crumby Poem

Just one day before

a turkey was basted.

Today in my kitchen

Christmas cookies were tasted.

Grammy Peg's cookie recipe

we were baking,

Her presence was felt

in this HUGE undertaking.

Lots of laughter and singing,

oh so much fun

the task was completed before it was hardly begun.

A family tradition

that we love to share,

it's never considered a burden to bear.

The cookies are baked,

the clean up is done..

Now  let's go to the Mall

and have some more fun!!

See what you started Paula?   The poems were fun to read...nice work girls!

You shop 'til I drop!

A trip to the mall?

Fun you say?!

I'm shopping online,

Amazon and eBay.

Not At All Crumby

Paula's delightful holiday rhyme

Shall take me nicely to bedtime

But upon my way

I'll slightly stray

Past the kitchen to the jar

Grab a cookie & check the stars

I'll look upon them ever so briefly

Thanking that Lucky Star for Paula, chiefly

And for all the Girls on the team

That make our family history gleam!

Warm Holiday Wishes to You,

Love,

Cindy

And right back at ya!

Thank you, Cindy.

What a great rhyme.

I really appreciate

That you took the time.

Decorate your own cookie

I had an email response that included this link where you can decorate your own cookie and send it as a postcard. So, if you're feeling inspired, check it out -- it's a blast!

(Thanks, Jeannie!)
