The End of SKF

SKF produces ball bearings that make less friction and the world go around! In our family, SKF did both. Bob worked faithfully and fearless for 35 years in the plant in Altoona. He was a Production Assistant and produced many fine ball bearings for SKF besides producing a beautiful family for us. We thank SKF for their help to clothe and feed our seven children, Jean, Bob, Ann, Betsy, Sue, Jon and Jennifer. Many a time, we used SKF's medical plan to pay for the children's care and our care too.

Now, our children have grown, married and have their families to raise. Bob and I have grown older too. We just returned from a Sunday visit to our grandchildren and noticed how SKF appeared from the highway. It was overgrown with ragweed and the windows smashed with the sun streaming through them. It was sad to see the factory being demolished. But we thank SKF for helping us when we were young and raising our family. So, we stopped to take some final pictures of the factory before it met it's end. Goodbye SKF, we will miss the people who made it great!
