Finally, a much deserved respite from winter

Finally, after 20 years of marriage and raising three kids,  it's our turn.  Last fall I announced to my husband that we were taking a trip to Florida.  He took the news suprisingly well.  The last time we went on vacation was our honeymoon.  Even then we had no intentions of taking a trip.... we decided to go somewhere the day after our wedding.....


Winter thoughts of a summer garden.

Now is the time of year when the incoming flood of seed catalogs makes my blood start to pump.  Time to plan for this springs' flowers and veggies is at hand.  I usually find a cozy place with good light and a warm 'blankie'  to sit and pour over the multitude of mailings.  I think about  all of the flowers and veggies I will plant.


Ice skating on Middlefork Pond

One advantage of the frigid weather we've had lately is that finally, for the first time in several years, the ice on our pond was thick enough for ice skating.  Many of our friends and family came down to enjoy the crisp winter day on the ice.  We built a toasty fire on the bank and had hot cocoa and marshmallows to keep us warm on the inside as well as the outsid
